Eiffel Tower & Trocadéro Photos in Paris
Trocadéro is the wide terrace across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower, and it gives the cleanest, most recognisable frame of the tower you will find in Paris. A Trocadéro photoshoot in Paris is the classic postcard view: the whole structure sits in the distance, balanced by the fountains and the open sky. For couples, families, and solo travellers, this is the spot that says “Paris” the moment you see it.

Why Trocadéro works for a photoshoot
The terrace is open, elevated, and built for wide compositions. You get the tower centred, the fountains in the foreground, and long sightlines that keep distracting clutter out of the frame. Early in the morning the plaza is nearly empty, which makes posing relaxed and natural. As the day fills in, we can step back along the railings or drop down toward the river, where the tower still reads strongly without the crowd.
Best time to shoot
Golden hour is the sweet spot. The hour after sunrise gives you soft, even light and almost no people. The hour before sunset warms the stone and the metal to a gentle gold. Blue hour, just after sunset, turns the sky deep blue while the tower’s lights come on — a romantic, slightly theatrical look. I generally avoid the harsh midday sun here, when the square is crowded and the light is flat.
Permits & access
Trocadéro is a public space, and photography for personal use is welcome there. Crowds are the real challenge, not rules — early arrival is the simplest way to keep them out of your frames. If you prefer a quieter alternative with the same tower, the Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a few minutes’ walk away and far less busy.
What to expect on the day
A Trocadéro session usually runs 30 to 60 minutes. We move between the central terrace, the railing overlooking the fountain, and the stairs down toward the water. I’ll suggest positions and angles, then let you settle so the pictures feel like you rather than a stiff pose.
A few practical tips
- Go early. Arriving at sunrise is the single biggest upgrade to your gallery.
- Wear what you love. Comfortable shoes help, since we may walk a little.
- Bring a layer. Mornings near the river can be cool, even in summer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we combine Trocadéro with another location?
Yes. Many couples pair it with a short walk to Bir-Hakeim or down the Seine for two very different backdrops in one session.
Is Trocadéro good for proposals?
It is a favourite. The view is unmistakable, and the open space lets me stay at a distance until the moment arrives. See my proposal photography page for how these sessions run.
